Fishtail Palm

A Fishtail palm tree is one of the most unusual palm trees. It flowers only once and then dies.

A Fishtail palm has a very distinctive, shaped like fishtails, leaves. It produces mop-like flowers from the top of the trunk and down to the stem.

There are about 14 different species of Fishtail palms. Some of them are invasive.

There are single trunked and clump-growing groups of Fishtail palms. A single trunked palm die after flowering and a clumping palm survives.

A Fishtail palm is ideal as a house plant.
